What lighting for art deco cabinet?

Question

Hi team - I am restoring an art deco drinks cabinet that used to light up when the middle door is opened. My electrician checked it and the fitting work, but I'm looking for tips on what light fitting is needed? I'm guessing some kind of bar light?

Any advice would be welcome. The other option is to remove the existing fitting and replace with strip lighting, but would like to try to stay true to the original if possible.

It's great to see Eric's response above @ninjadogmum. Hopefully you can get one from Mirabella.

Failing that, this Click 30cm Chrome Opa Vanity Light could work. It does have a daylight 6000k globe in it which is whiter than a more period correct warm white at 3500k. Though, I think design-wise it's certainly passable.

Thats a beautiful cabinet :) and yeah I would probarlly want to stay true to the era as well. I did a quick search for that style of light that @EricL mentioned "Mirabella Architectural Incandescent Light Bulb S14s 240V 35W 300mm" and a few places popped up. I would buy one, see if it works and see how the light feels and then promptly order another 2 as backups.

If you went the route of switching over to something newer, then you would notice the timber of the unit being brighter from where the old connections are. Comes down to a personal thing/want :)

If you took a photo into an electrical wholesaler or a lighting store (wholesaler first) that shows the fittings and the globe you may be lucky to find one close to you. The two wholesalers I go to really go out of their way to help me out finding odd fittings :)

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your art deco cabinet lighting.

The bulb for your set is called the Mirabella Architectural Incandescent Light Bulb S14s 240V 35W 300mm. Please note that it is important to measure the width of the connection points and the space available in your cabinet so that you can get the right sized bulb. This bulb will need to be ordered from the special orders desk and is subject to availability.

It's a classical type of bulb as it goes all the way down to 5W which gives a very cosy illumination that blends in with your cabinet. Please double check your cabinet to see if it has a dimmer as some units can be dimmed which means that you'll need to get a bulb unit that is dimmable.

It is possible to upgrade your light fitting with a Click 30cm White Charla Vanity Light that is similar in shape, but you'll need an electrician to fit it in, and it will be extremely bright compared to the old fitting.
