Project Description
I wanted some storage and a workbench for my bikes. To keep the costs down I made the cabinets from melamine sheets. I screwed and glued them all together, which looks fine for a shed. I will eventually follow them around to the other wall so I can have some storage and workbench for all my tools.
Materials
Melamine Sheets, Practa Benchtop, Iron on edging.
Tools
Makita 40v tracksaw.
Ozito table saw.
Makita 18v drill and driver.
Hinge jig.
Step 1
Biggest tip for working with melamine is to start with good quality fine saw blades in everything you plan on cutting it with.
I started with some drawers that I rescued from the skip when our house was getting built.
I then made the drawers fit in the bottom of a tall cabinet. All the edges that you can see had the iron on melamine edging put on them.
First cabinet being put in place.
I had a spare toolbox that I made fit into one of the bottom cabinets. This is to house all my bike repair equipment. I also used some offcuts of the flooring in places you don't see.
Test fitting the workbench.
Bottom cabinets complete with doors and handles. Top cabinets being installed.
Top cabinets finished and fridge cabinet being installed.
The finished product. I will eventually add more later on to the other walls.
