I’m redoing a room in my house to be a baby’s nursery and want to fix up some damaged panelling.
I’ve taken the old wallpaper off and there’s some water damage underneath. The house was built in 1969, and the panels seem to be held in place by timber frames (red cedar). I’m sanding down and refinishing the red cedar also as part of this project. Once the panels are replaced I plan to put some new wallpaper over them
I’d like to replace the panels, but have a few questions.
- Should I get these tested for asbestos before trying to remove them?
- Would I need to pry off the wooden framing pieces to remove these panels? Does Bunnings sell red cedar dowels like this that I can use if the wood breaks during removal?
- Does Bunnings sell something I can use for new panels? Even just some plywood sheets would work I think since I plan to paper over them. And can Bunnings cut these to size for me?
Many thanks!!
