How to remove anti-slip tape from stairs?

Hi Bunnings team,

I recently had my floors done and my partner put in Croc Anti Slip Tape on the new hybrid (stone plastic composite) staircase.

But it is too rough for my baby to crawl on.

How can I remove this? And what is available instead that I can use as anti-slip which is suitable for infant's delicate

knees, feet, hands?

You could potentially apply a small amount of heat with a hair dryer to help soften the adhesive and make the tape easier to peel away. Be very careful though, as if you overheat either the tape or the hybrid stair tread, you could cause irreversible damage to the surface. I’d suggest starting on a low or warm setting (not hot), warming a small section at a time, and gently lifting it as you go. If there’s any adhesive residue left behind, a small amount of adhesive remover that’s safe for hybrid/SPC flooring, tested in an inconspicuous spot first, can help clean it up.

Do you happen to know which tape you used from the Croc range? If it was the Croc Grip 5m x 50mm Clear Anti-Slip Tape, then a softer alternative would be the Croc Grip 500mm x 150mm Clear XL Soft Textured Step, which has a less aggressive texture and may be more suitable for little hands and knees.

If you’ve already used the softer textured version and it’s still too rough, there may not be a softer adhesive strip option available. In that case, you might consider managing slip risk in other ways. For example, avoiding socks on the stairs (as they’re a common cause of slipping on hybrid flooring) or installing a baby gate to prevent access to the stairs while your little one is crawling.
