How to clean shower tiles?

Question

I cannot, for the life of me, clean the yellow stains off these white shower tiles.  I've tried Easy off Bam many times, and scrubbed with steel wool but they won't budget.  It's like the stains have merged with the tiles.

I would really appreciate some advice.  Thanks.

Thanks Jacob.  I'm in Cairns and I'm not sure what is in the water here.  I thought it was soap scum, but in the past I've been able to remove that.

I will definitely buy some CLR and give that a try.  Thanks.

Yellow staining on shower tiles is usually caused by one of a few common issues, and the right solution depends on what is actually causing it. The most common cause is mineral build up from hard water. Over time, calcium and lime deposits can leave a yellowish tinge that normal bathroom sprays will not fully remove.

Another possible cause is iron in the water supply. Iron can leave yellow or brown staining that can look like it has soaked into the tile.

Considering this, I'd suggest using CLR Ready To Use Calcium Lime Rust Remover alongside a Scotch-Brite Non-Scratch Scourer Pad to remove the deposits. It is used for the removal of calcium, lime and rust deposits, so it covers all of these potential causes.

Apply the CLR to the staining and allow it to sit for 2 minutes before scrubbing and then rinsing with clean water. Repeat this process up to 5 times, ensuring you do not leave it to soak for longer than 2 minutes at a time.
