How to hang heavy clothesline on laundry tiles

Hello,

I am looking to hand 4 Line Retractable Clothesline in my laundry which has tiles all the way to the ceiling on the first floor of a townhouse.

was thinking of using the GripIt 25mm Blue Plasterboard Fixing, but not sure I can use them here because of the additional thickness of the tiles?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

Technically, these anchors would be usable as long as there is definitely plasterboard behind them and not fibre cement sheeting. This is because the wings are designed to cut into plasterboard, regardless of thickness, but they will not do this with fibre cement sheeting.

If you can confirm there is plasterboard, then you would need to put a 25mm hole through the tile and plasterboard for the anchor to lock into. It is certainly possible, but to me, this is not really practical because you would be putting a very large hole in your tiles.

Instead, I would recommend you locate the studs behind the tiles, then screw into them. To locate the studs, you can use a Trojan Magnetic Stud Finder to locate the metal fixings behind the tiles. If the magnet reacts to a screw or nail, run it up and down the wall in that location to check for further fixings which will then confirm the presence of a stud.

You can then either screw the clothesline directly to the studs, or you can mount a timber cleat to the wall and screw the clothesline to this cleat if the fixing holes on the clothesline do not match up with the studs.
