How to install Matrix Fence extension to Colorbond?

Hello Team,

I need help to install the Matrix Fence extension (2410 x 600mm) on my color bond fence outside.

* Got the below Matrix Fence extension https://www.bunnings.com.au/matrix-2400-x-600mm-charcoal-coolabah-fence-extension_p0029255

2. Got the recommended Legs (Code 33652 ) from Bunnings for Steel fence - which contains a L bend at the middle and 3 Pre dilled holes.

3. The instructions to install on the steel fence is very confusing (attached)

As per instructions the predrilled holes is to attach the Fence Extension to the leg. But the Fence extension is 600mm wide and the leg part with predrilled holes is only 580mm and hence it is never going to aling with the top and bottom channels of the fence extension.

Question 1 : So should i turn the leg and use the 600mm length part and drill holes to attach it to the Fence Extension ?

Question 2 : Should i be screwing through the leg into the fence extension, or through the fence extension into the leg?

Clarification - is Does the Fence extension lean toward my side or the neighbours side ? what the intended design ?

Can anyone please assist with this - the videos does not show for Color Bond fence and i have googled the earlier Bunnings blogs and it does not help to clarify my queries.

This is very confusion to install - been struck on this and not able to complete the work

Can anyone share a picture if they installed one on color bond fence.

Hi @catchganu,

Yes, you will have to cut the panel down. As mentioned in step 5 and 6, the top and bottom channel should be cut to the measurement from the outside of one fence extension leg to the outside of the other leg.

In step 7 they mention that the panel should be cut 15mm shorter than the channels to allow for expansion. So, if the 2334mm measurement is from the outside of one leg to the outside of the other leg, then the panel would need to be cut to 2319mm.

thanks a lot - makes sense. The instruction step 2 and 3 caused confusion - particulary step 3 is asking to drill two holes to attach to the Fence posts. However if we are using the small part of the leg (580mm) - it does already the predriller 3 holes.

I did reach out to Jack (Whitesgroup) the manufacturer and they confused by stating that Fence extension will be behind the leg (facing neighbour side) - which confused me as then it will mean it can fall into their yard. Anyways thanks the clarification - i will proceed as you stated

As a final note - the instructions (step 6-8) is asking to trip the fence panels (as they are 2410 wide) where as the Fence is roughy 2334 between two legs - should i trim this ?

From what I can see, the instructions and the video on the product page actually do line up with the parts you have. Here’s a breakdown:

* The 600mm part of the leg sits above the top of your fence line and this is where the panel/frame rests.
* The 580mm predrilled section is the part that attaches to the existing fence.

Installation steps:

* Place the leg behind the fence extension panel.
* Drill holes through the top and horizontal frame first, then a larger hole through the Matrix panel itself.
* Screw through the horizontal frame → panel → leg so that the leg is at the back and supporting the weight.
* Do the same for the bottom rail.

The leg hooks over the top of the fence, so the weight of the panel sits on it rather than just the screws. The legs will be on the back of the panel, facing the neighbours.

For installation on a Colorbond fence:

* The method is essentially the same as a metal fence.
* Use metal Tek self-drilling screws through the predrilled holes in the legs into the fence posts.
