What would I need to patch up the wall and paint it to cover up the hole.
Hello @Keheaven
Thanks for sharing your question about your plaster wall. I suggest removing all the broken plaster pieces and debris in the corner and cleaning the area as best as possible. To patch the corner, I recommend using Selleys 180g Spakfilla Rapid Gap Filler. It is a ready-mixed lightweight filler that needs just one application. It’s fast drying, virtually non-shrinking, non-cracking and can be sanded and painted with oil or water-based paints.
My best advice is to fill the hole to the same level as your wall so that you don't have to sand a lot of the filler off. Once the filler cures, lightly sand the surface so that it is level to the wall. Wipe the surface clean before painting it with your wall paint.
If you wish to colour match your wall paint, I suggest bringing one of the larger broken plaster pieces with paint on it to your local store. Show it to the paint specialist and they will scan it to try and produce a colour match for you.
