How to fill gap between fence and concrete?

We just got a new fence. Our old fence the wooden sleeper went into the ground, this one has a 3cm gap between the sleeper and concrete floor. I want to fill it so the neighbours grass won't come under. We will be painting the wooden slab, I want the look to be clean and modern.

One simple way to achieve a clean and modern look would be to install an additional plinth (timber board) along the bottom of the fence to cover that gap. You can screw the plinth directly into the fence posts and the bottom of the palings to close off the space and stop the neighbour’s grass from coming through.

Alternatively, if the current bottom plinth has been installed a little too high, you could add another plinth below it to bridge the gap between the fence and the concrete. Once it’s fixed in place, you can paint it the same colour as the rest of the fence so it blends in nicely and gives the base a neat, finished appearance.

The only thing I would bear in mind is that grass can be quite aggressive and closing the gap might not be enough to prevent it from trying to get under. A periodic trim with a whipper snipper will keep it in check.
