How to fix noisy ceiling exhaust fan?

Hello,

The exhaust fan blades are in contact with the ceiling cover. I attempted to move the ceiling cover  around but does not seem to stop the blades touching the cover, resulting in an annoying noise.

Looking at the blades when they were running, it seems like one side of the blades are lower resulting in contacting the screen cover - is this a normal design? or has the blade settings deteriorated over time?

Fan was installed 2 years ago and recently started making noise.

Hi @AbdullahFarooq,

That definitely wouldn’t be considered normal. The fan blades should be flush with the frame and level, with an even gap all around so they don’t touch the ceiling cover. From what you’ve described, it looks like something has caused the blades to become misaligned, which could be due to the motor mount being slightly off centre or another part deteriorating over time.

It’s worth carefully checking to see if you can gently adjust the angle of the blades with a small amount of pressure, but be cautious in case a component has worn or broken.

Since your fan is only two years old, it’s also a good idea to check the warranty. You may be able to return it to your nearest store with your receipt for an exchange if the unit is still covered.
