How to fix leaking running toilet?

About half a year ago, one of my toilet (dual push button) experienced a small running toilet. I did my homework and identify the problem due to potentially faulty valve. I bought a caroma quietflow 2 Bottom Inlet Valve from bunnings and subsequently replaced it. Problem was solved until now and it started again but its like an on and off problem; sometimes its ok and sometimes after the water filled up and after awhile water starts to slowly run again.

Is this a product defect problem?

This type of intermittent running can also be caused by a faulty or incorrectly sealing outlet valve, not just the inlet valve. It would be worth working through the troubleshooting steps in this guide: How to fix a leaking toilet.

Since you recently replaced the inlet valve, I would suggest checking the outlet valve first. Perhaps the washer has perished and is allowing water to leak into the toilet, which will kick the inlet valve on after a while to refill it. Sometimes the leak is so small you can't see the water leaking into the bowl.

Of course, there is still a chance the product itself could be faulty. Other possibilities include debris stuck in the outlet or inlet valve, or the outlet valve washer needing replacement. However, given the symptoms you described, I would double-check the outlet valve first as it is the more likely cause.
