Hi Team, are corded electric lawn mowers more powerful that battery lawn mowers? I have a 36V battery mower and it struggles if the grass is a bit longer/thicker.
Thx
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @paulstuttard. It's terrific to have you join us and many thanks for your question on lawn mowers.
From my experience, though it might differ for others, corded electric and 36V battery mowers are generally similar in power. Both can struggle if the grass has grown long or thick, so regular lawn maintenance is key. If you leave the lawn for a few weeks in summer, it’s often best to mow twice: first at a higher setting to reduce the long grass, then again at your normal height. Trying to cut very tall grass in one go can overwhelm either type of mower.
If you need more power to handle longer or tougher grass, the only real step up is a larger petrol mower, which will cope with heavier growth much more effectively.
Here's a helpful guide: How to choose the right lawnmower.
