Hi all, I'm currently in the process of planning a laundry renovation and am wondering if it's possible to enclose my electric hot water system in a pantry style cabinetry? Is it recommended or safe to do so?
Hi @Mitch_1990,
Enclosing an electric hot water system in cabinetry is sometimes possible, but generally not recommended due to safety concerns, the need for proper ventilation, and the requirement for easy access for maintenance or emergency repairs.
A safer alternative is to build a benchtop over the top of the unit. This helps obscure it visually without fully boxing it in, while still allowing airflow and access.
Whichever option you choose, make sure to observe the manufacturer’s clearance requirements and check with a licensed electrician before making any modifications.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Mitchell
