How to fix loose front door handle?

Hello, my front door handle is loose. Before pulling everything apart, I'd like to try and identify what the most likely problem is.

I'm hoping is just a worn out spring, that I can replace.

The door handle sags and I can wiggle the whole thing around.

The lock (dead bolt bit) works, but somtimes 'snags' at the start. It won't turn at all, and I need to turn it back and fourth a couple of times before it will then unlock. I don't know if these problems are related.

Below isn't the exact door lever, but it's indicative.

I don't know what extra information to include, so please ask me.

Thank you for sharing your question about your door handle. Door knobs and door handles have an estimated service life. As the handle and door mechanism start to age, parts of the door assembly begin to wear out, loosen and eventually fail. Generally speaking, these door sets don't have spare parts as the common practice is to replace them. Especially if the door knob set is not that expensive.

Based on your description, multiple parts of the door mechanism have failed. Finding parts for your particular model will be extremely difficult if not impossible. Plus, the cost for these parts should you find them, might almost match the price of a brand-new set. I therefore recommend replacing the door knob set and getting a new one. My best advice is to look at the type of locking mechanism you have in your door. If I had to guess, it appears to be a mortise door set. But if you can post a photo of the latch, we'll be able to recommend the proper replacement set.
