How to add castors to a table island?

Hi there I have bought a table island and am wanting to add castors to the bottom of the legs to make it moveable. There are pre-drilled holes in the  legs already. I'm looking at using these castors:

I'm wondering if they'll be suitable and if I can just screw them into the legs or are there any other additional steps/items I'd need to put them in.

Hi @mnqv,

If the hole is sized correctly for that M10 thread or if an M10 threaded insert has been installed, then you could screw it in. Alternatively, Richmond 25mm x M10 Round Threaded Tube Inserts should be installed so the castors have something to screw into.

:) A picture of the underside of thetable leg will help us with the size of the hole. The specs of the table may have the thread size listed that you need as well?

Once we have the picture we will be able to suggest a yah or neigh.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your table island.

In order to give our members a better idea of the table's layout and construction, would it be possible for you to post a picture of the whole table and the hole on the leg of the table? Once we've seen the picture, we'll be able to assess if the Easyroll 100mm 55kg Grey Rubber Swivel Plus Brake Castor is ideal for your table. It's possible that the screw might be too small for the hole or the screw is too big for the hole.

Generally speaking, sometimes there is a metal holding plate at the bottom of the leg, a good example is the M10 Zinc Plated T Nuts - 4 Pack. This is usually used for furniture. If the castor is inserted into the existing hole with no support and it is loose, the wheel will tilt and then fail.
