How to replace basin mixer tap faucet cartridge?

I am unsure of the brand, but I have a black basin mixer tap that has been leaking from the top. I understand it likely needs the cartridge replaced.

The issue I am having is the opening where the cartridge is, is too narrow and will not fit a rap spanner (or any other tool) in to allow me to loosen the hex nut and therefore I can’t get the cartridge out.

It does not appear that the top section comes off to allow proper access to the hex nut, although I could be wrong.

Any help would be appreciated!

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your mixer tapware.

You've done very well with removal of the handle. Quite often the handle is one of the most difficult things to remove especially if the mixer tap is quite old. You are very close to your objective, the round curved circular cover covering the cartridge is called cover flange ring. I suggest getting a good grip on the surface with your hand and twisting it in an anticlockwise direction to remove it.

If you can't get a good grip on it, I propose using an Appetito Silicone Jar Opener Red or similar to grip the surface of the cover flange. One other tool you can try is using a Catzon Multi-Function Jar Opener with Silicone Handle-Red. One you have the cover flange off you'll have access to the brass locking ring that is keeping the cartridge in place. You'll need to use a standard adjustable shifter to remove it. My best advice is to bring the old cartridge with you to the store and compare it to the ceramic cartridges available at the store to make sure you are getting the same one.
