In the process of patching the cornice gaps. Use Polyfilla S20 Gap Filler. The color is white, but as in the photo somehow can see a smudge and is not truly white. Try to avoid have to paint. Which filler(s) is good in this situation ?
Hello @oasis1frog
Thank you for sharing your question about your gap filler. I understand your desire to skip the paint touch up process. But gap fillers generally give an indication that the material inside is white. But it does not mean that it will colour match the white you have on your cornice or skirting board. There are numerous levels of white, and a single product can't account for all those levels, you could get close, but it will never be a perfect match. Plus, it is difficult to actually predict the actual colour of white that you'll be getting from the filler.
However, the advantage of having a white filler is that it will not bleed through the paint that you'll be putting on the surface of the filler. A single coat will sometimes be enough to cover the fillers surface. The good news is that it is not necessary to purchase a large amount of paint for touch ups. I propose looking at getting a British Paints 250ml White Sample Pot along with a Paint Partner 25mm Synthetic Paint Brush which should be enough to paint over the filler. It will not require a great deal of prep-work, and you can use the sample pot to touch up any other areas that need covering.
Please remember to wear personal protection such as gloves and goggles when painting.

Thanks. The problem with painting a bit is the bit will never match the existing paint (its called flashing if I remember correctly). No problem with Polyfilla shade of white, it just when apply on top of existing paint that it is not white. There must be gap fillers that stay white even if apply over existing paint.
As with paint not matching the existing white, the white of the gap filler will not necessarily match the white of your cornice @oasis1frog. However, the Polyfilla product looks quite off-white. I've used Selleys 475g No More Gaps Interior Multipurpose Gap Filler in the past, and it's much closer to a stark white than what you've used. It's also paintable, so if you do decide to repaint the cornice in the future, that will be fine.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you, appreciated.
