How to remove built-in wardrobe frame?

I’m wondering how to go about removing the frame from an old built-in wardrobe in a bedroom. I assume I would then just plaster it. In the photos it is the orange area that I need to remove. This is not a structural wall, just the remnants of an old wardrobe, and goes from one side of the room to the other (roughly 3 meters).

If there is no structural beam running across that section, you can remove the wardrobe frame and repair the wall. Start by carefully removing the plasterboard and cornice. Look for any screws, nails, or fixings holding the frame to the wall, ceiling, and floor. Once the frame is removed, you may have uneven edges, exposed plaster, or gaps in the wall. These can be repaired by fitting new plasterboard to fill the gaps and ensure the surface is level with the surrounding wall. After the plasterboard is secured, apply joint compound and tape to the seams, sand smooth once dry, and then finish with topcoat plaster, matching cornices for a seamless look and then you'll be ready to prime and paint.

General Step-by-Step Guide:

1. Remove Frame Fixings: Unscrew or pry out nails, screws, and any brackets attaching the frame to walls, ceiling, or floor.
2. Carefully Take Out Frame Sections: Work slowly to avoid damaging surrounding walls.
3. Clean and Inspect the Area: Remove any debris and check for uneven plaster, exposed brick, or gaps.
4. Fit New Plasterboard: Cut boards to size and screw them into place to fill gaps and create a smooth surface.
5. Tape and Apply Joint Compound: Cover seams with tape and multiple layers of joint compound, allowing each layer to dry before sanding.
6. Sand and Smooth: Sand the patched area so it’s level with the surrounding wall.
7. Apply Finishing Touches: Re-plaster, paint, and reinstall cornices or mouldings if needed to match the existing décor.
