How to return paint tinted the wrong colour?

Question

I picked a sample pot and liked the colour when tested. I took the sample pot in and said that I wanted the same colour as the sample. I ordered a few different paints at once, so picked up some other items  and came back. I picked up the paint and dropped it off to our painter. When I came to the house today

I have found it’s a completely different colour. The error has set us back some time in painting and the purchase of the incorrect paint. I was wondering what the simplest solution would be to fix the problem? Thanks

I've gotten in touch with Nushani at the Mornington store who has your details and will get in touch to organise a replacement.

We believe the issue is because there is a colour named Long Grass in both the Taubmans paint library and the Dulux paint library. If you are looking to match the sample pot, they should use the mix from the Taubmans library.

I'm sorry to hear you've had issues with your paint.

I'd say the discrepancy in colour is down to different bases being used. Sample pots are usually made in a generic base, whereas full size tins are tinted into specific bases, in your case ultra deep. This can sometimes cause noticeable variation in the colour.

The simplest way forward would be to bring both the sample pot and the tinted paint back into your local store. The team can check the tinting formula and base used and work out where things may have gone wrong to ensure you go home with the correct colour.

For the wall where the paint has already been applied, as the colour is similar, you may get away with just painting over it with two coats of the new paint, however you can ensure consistency by applying a coat of primer to cover it and then applying two coats of the correct colour over the top.

I should add that a lot of the paint is on the wall and is a light green (even after drying)
