How to fix Mondella kitchen mixer water cutting off?

Hi all,

I have just replaced my old Mondella kitchen mixer tap with veggie hose for the latest version of the same from Bunnings.

It went well and works quite good, which is awesome. I have a double sink and can move the waterspout to the left or right. When I move it to the left I can get to just under halfway and the water cuts off. If I move it back the water comes on again.

I have checked underneath and the veggie hose is not kinked so it appears something is happening up in the mixer in the segment that rotates left and right.

Is this normal or have I done something wrong.

Any advice would be appreciated.

That’s not normal behaviour. The tap should run continuously no matter where the spout is positioned, even if it’s swung completely to one side of the sink.

It sounds like something is restricting flow inside the mixer body when the spout rotates. Since you’ve already checked that the veggie hose underneath isn’t kinked, the issue is likely internal rather than installation-related.

One possibility is that the tap body has been installed slightly out of alignment, so when you rotate the spout to the left it’s hitting an internal limit or partially blocking flow. That said, if the handle is positioned correctly (typically just to the right of the spout), this is less likely.

More realistically, it points to a fault in the unit itself. Something like a misaligned internal hose or swivel joint.

If you can, take a photo of how the tap is installed (especially the orientation relative to the sink), as that might help confirm things. But based on your description, the safest move is to return it to Bunnings and swap it for a replacement, as it does sound like a faulty mixer.
