How to add hybrid flooring and sliding door to living room?

Hi guys,

Out of many project, this one is also in my list. I thought I start prepraring my thougths and also advise and recommendations from experts.

Here is the details:

Following are the images of the living room. This room is being used as my office, has one set of sofa, kid's toys, small pantry and one cupboard as you can see in these images.

My plans are:

1.) Hybrid Flooring

2.) Having corner Pantry

3.) Sliding door on both openings

Questions are :

1. ) I had done one project (https://www.workshop.bunnings.com.au/discussion/288265/walk-in-wardrobe-renovation#latest) before where I had done hybrid flooring myself. It was done for a smaller area. This area I am trying to do is much larger area. I sometimes feel some clearence or as if there is gap between the hybrid flooring and the actual floor itself. or, it could just be my feeling or sense, I cannot say. Before I had not used any underlay, could this be because of that. The previous project image are in above link. If the underlay plays vital role in stability and acoustic of the flooring, then I might as well use that in this project.

2.) Where I have green colored for the Corner pantry- there is a big window/ door. I am not getting my head around, if I put the corner pantry, how would it look with the clear screen at the back of the pantry. i was thinking if I could hide or cover the clear screen half way using something, that will create as a wall or cover, if you know what I mean. Please suggest here. Following is one from Kaboodle and i may add one extra one each sides.

3.) I am also planning to setup one small area 1600 x 1600 for kids play, just under the aircon. Initially I had a plan to have a partition like this, and seperate, Area1 : Kitchen panty + Small space ( approx. 600-1000mm) and Area2: Kids play area + sofa bed + plants at the corner. This is along the longest side of the room.

Any recommendation around this?

In regards to the hybrid flooring, they often come with underlay already attached and therefore you don't need to add more underlay to that flooring type. If it feels like the floor is not level my best advice is to use a spirit level over the floor to determine if there are any inconsistencies. It might be necessary to use self-levelling compound in a particular area to make sure that the floor is level.

Yes, you can install a corner pantry near the sliding glass doors, but I don't recommend it. The corner pantry will take up a lot of space and partially cover the sliding door opening. It will reduce the amount of light coming in and its ungainly structure will make it stand out in that area. As an alternative, I suggest adding another standard pantry next to the existing one you already have. This gives it a uniform look, and you get a larger amount of storage space without making the corner look bulky.

The timber wall divider is a great idea to separate the children's play area and toy storage. The best part is that once they grow up the dividers can be removed at some time in the future to open up the space in the room.

As for the sliding barn doors, I can only suggest making sure that they have space to move and that they will not hit any of the plants or appliances.
