How to hang 5kg mosaic mirror?

Hi there,

I have a 40cm diameter mosaic mirror that I would like to hang, but am unsure of the best way to do so with minimal damage to my painted Plaster wall or the mirror. The backing of the mosaic/mirror is MDF board. I would need to weigh it, but I doubt the mirror weighs more than 5kg.

I screwed two screws half way down as pictured but am now unsure if that was too low to tie to picture hanging wire between them and have it hold the mirror up safely.

What do you recommend?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about hanging your mirror.

I suggest having a quick look at this guide - How to hang just about anything by @Adam_W. It gives you a general guide on what fixings to use when anchoring or hanging things on your wall. Because you have a plaster wall, I suggest looking at using a stud finder to see if you can find the timber stud behind your wall. This would be the ideal spot to screw into to hang your mirror.

However, if there is no stud in the spot where you would like to hang your mirror, I suggest looking at the following hollow wall anchors:
