How to fix damp window weep hole?

Hi,

My aluminum frame window gets damp around the weep hole and want to get some advice on what the issue could be. Only found out last night and was still damp this morning.

I'm not really sure if its a problem or not and would like some input. I'm thinking it could be the window seal letting cold air in but my dad reckons it could be a problem inside the walls/roof leaking in.

This is the only window that has this problem.

Is this an occupied bedroom, and do you notice any moisture or fogging on the inside of the window in the morning?

If the room is lived in, it’s actually pretty common to get condensation forming on windows overnight. Warm air inside (especially from breathing) hits the colder glass and frame, and that moisture condenses and runs down toward the weep holes.

From your photos, it doesn’t look like a major issue at first glance. It seems more like the sealant line is getting damp rather than there being significant water ingress, but it’s worth confirming: is it just that damp strip, or is there more widespread moisture or pooling?

At this stage, nothing in the images clearly points to a specific fault like a wall or roof leak. As we move into winter, you might notice it more often too, since colder weather temperatures increase condensation. For example, in my own place, it’s not unusual to see a bit of water collect along the bottom of the window in the morning.

If it gets worse, spreads, or you start seeing staining, mould, or water appearing when it hasn’t been cold overnight, then it’d be worth investigating further.
