How to bond HDPE plugs to metal coated freezer feet?

Please refer to the attached photo.

Intention is to bond round the HDPE to wire freezer baskets as shown in the attached photo. I was able to drill and cut the groove into round HDPE. The idea is the ensure that the HDPE section firmly bond to the wire baskets. I have a few more baskets to do. What is considered the most suitable adhesive for this job. Looking forward to completing the project.

Initially I shall give the Selleys plastic glue a go and let you know the success or otherwise to see if the bond is successful.

Hi @Razor20,

HDPE is notoriously difficult to glue to because of its low porosity. You could try something like this

, but the combination of difficult surfaces and the small contact area make me think it would likely fail rather quickly.

Instead, I'd suggest using a small saddle clip with some small screws like these

https://www.bunnings.com.au/buildex-6g-x-12mm-ss316-self-tapping-sheet-metal-screws-50-pack_p0920436

. Although they are specifically designed for sheet metal, they will still bite into the HDPE well and hold the frame in place.
