Any suggestions on how to improve this outdoor floor without having to remove existing floor. It’s very old and stained and I would just like a cleaner look. It’s been power hosed a few time so I am looking for a more long term solution. Thanks
Hi @TisungeChinseu,
If pressure washing is no longer improving the appearance, the staining has likely penetrated into the concrete rather than just sitting on the surface, so you will need to look at a coating or resurfacing option rather than cleaning alone.
A good first step before doing anything is to give it a proper clean with a concrete cleaner such as this https://www.bunnings.com.au/chemtech-5l-concrete-and-driveway-cleaner_p0960074 and a scrubbing brush. This will help to remove any oil, grease or grime and prepare the surface for overcoating.
If this does not remove all the staining, you could try an etch cleaner like this https://www.bunnings.com.au/rust-oleum-concrete-and-garage-clean-and-etch_p0347545 , but as it is an acid cleaner, it can affect the colour of the concrete. If you'd like to try it, make sure you follow the instructions closely and start with a small test patch to gauge the reaction before application over the wider area.
From there, I'd suggest applying a clear penetrative sealer such as this https://www.bunnings.com.au/crommelin-6l-natural-finish-penetrating-sealer-and-water-repellent_p0356895 to help protect it from future staining and wear.
Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
