What screws for mounting Westinghouse rangehood?

Question

I recently purchased the Westinghouse rangehood,

Interestingly, it didn’t come with any mounting screws. Could someone please advise what type of screws I should buy from Bunnings to install it properly and any installation tips?

I’ve added a photo below for reference. I’m looking to avoid fixing directly into the tiles if possible.

Hi @msgforsunil,

Since the mounting screws are an integral part of safely securing your rangehood, I’d recommend reaching out to the manufacturer or supplier first. They’re the best source for confirming exactly what screw type, gauge, and length should be used. At a minimum, they should be able to provide guidance on the correct size and fixing requirements for that model.

If they’re unable to provide those details, a reasonable fallback would be to use a short screw, around 16 mm or less, so it doesn’t penetrate through the cabinetry above, along with a screw that has a wider head (such as a button or pan head) to properly secure into the mounting slots like this

. In terms of installation, it’s best to fix the unit into the underside of the cabinet rather than into the tiles, pre-drill pilot holes to prevent splitting, and make sure the rangehood is well supported while you’re securing it in place.
