The wood on my dinning table chipped and came off. Could someone give me some advice as to how to fix it? Shiuld I put paint over it or there is something I could stick over it? Attaching photo of the chipped panel.
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Angela Li. It's wonderful to have you join us and many thanks for your question on repairing veneer.
Since the veneer has chipped away quite a bit, there isn’t really a way to make it completely invisible again, but you can definitely make it look a lot better and stop it getting worse.
If you want the smoothest result, the best approach is to:
This will give you a nice smooth edge again, but just keep in mind it will likely still be slightly noticeable since you’re matching paint to a wood veneer finish.
A simpler option is to just touch it up with paint or a stain to help it blend visually. That won’t fix the roughness, but it will make the damage stand out less. However, it looks like you've already tried that.
Also, since veneer can keep lifting once it starts, it’s a good idea to:
Filling the damaged section can also help stabilise that area and reduce the chance of it spreading.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you Mitchell for the advice. I am so glad to know I can keep the table by doing some work on it. Thank you so much.
