Our driveway has been losing its pebble stones and I wonder if there is some sort of glue or paint that could be applied to help keep them in place? The size of the pebbles are smaller than an paper clip. Grateful for your ideas and advice.
Hi @Kelly_Ngo,
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is wonderful to have you with us.
With exposed aggregate concrete, over time it’s not uncommon for the smaller stones to start coming loose as the surface wears down.
What can help at this stage is applying a quality concrete or exposed aggregate sealer such as this https://www.bunnings.com.au/dulux-avista-10l-exposed-aggregate-concrete-sealer_p0355654 or https://www.bunnings.com.au/crommelin-10l-clear-diamondtough-exposed-aggregate-and-polished-concrete-sealer_p0162300 which will form a film on the surface to help protect and keep the stones in place.
Before sealing, it’s important to give the driveway a thorough clean to remove any loose material, dirt, or contaminants so the sealer can properly adhere. Instructions for preparation will be provided on the packaging of your product, but this often involves cleaning with an etching agent, as well as pressure cleaning.
Just keep in mind that while sealing will slow down further loss, it won’t replace the stones that have already come out. If the surface is particularly worn, resurfacing may be something to consider longer term, in which case I would suggest you speak with a professional who is experienced with concrete resurfacing.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
