How to clean mould from shower door silicone?

Hi,

I need to do light renovation of bathroom to make it presentable for open home buyers.

Was wondering if anyone knows what to do about those two areas shown below.

Area1:

Where shower door frame meets shower panel.

It's obviously very moldy.

I was wondering if I could remove the existing seal and apply silicone sealant here?

Area2:

Where shower lower wall tile meets panel frame above.

Was thinking i should remove the current seal and apply something here too.

But wasn't sure what type of sealant to use for this?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's wonderful to have join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your bathroom silicone seals.

For the first picture, I suggest removing the old silicone seal. However, please be very careful not to remove the original seal between the shower panel and aluminium frame. The original seal keeps the panel in place and is specifically designed for that door. Accidentally cutting it or removing it could compromise the safety of your door. Therefore, please make sure to remove only the silicone seal. I suggest looking at using https://www.bunnings.com.au/cornertape-professional-silicon-remover_p1660554 and https://www.bunnings.com.au/trojan-safety-scraper-with-5-blades_p0191108 . Please remember not to cut the rubber seal that holds the panel in place.

Once the silicone is removed, I suggest using https://www.bunnings.com.au/selleys-300g-white-wet-area-waterproof-silicone-sealant_p1230981 . I recommend looking at this guide - How to silicone seal a bath

The techniques used are applicable to your project.

For the second picture you can use the same tools suggested and strip the old silicone from the wall. Make sure that you've cleaned the area as best as possible before applying the silicone sealer under the aluminium frame. The same rule applies, please do not cut or remove the rubber seal that holds the panel in place.
