How to install glass pool fencing stirrups?

Hi am helping my son install new Glass pool fencing and i cant find any where that advises of the stirrup hold down stud size ad how much of the stud should extend above base plate.

Also have been advised to use a Chem anchor type rather than expansion type as is close to edge of concrete ends. If so what is the most suitable?

Hi @Matt.p.Wilson,

The chisel spigots have the following requirement.

If you are going to be using Chemset and studs, you would only require enough thread above the base plate for all threads of the nut to fully engage with the threads on the stud. So, the threads of the stud would only slightly protrude above the nut when secured. This could be around 10mm, depending on the nuts you use.

Remember to be exceptionally careful when working with glass panels and always have a helper. Wear safety glasses, cut-resistant gloves, a long-sleeved shirt, trousers and enclosed footwear.

Stud size and how much thread should extend above the base plate can vary depending on the system, so the best place for that information is usually the installation manual. If it’s not listed there, we’d need to refer directly to the manufacturer to ensure everything is installed to spec (especially important for compliance and safety).

You could be on the right track with chemical anchors, as they’re often recommended when you’re close to slab edges, as they reduce the risk of cracking compared to expansion anchors. Alternatively, Ankascrews are often used in these situations too. The exact type and size would again depend on the fencing system and engineering requirements.
