How to replace hot water tank tap?

Hi, I have zero plumbing experience and my hot water tank tap is super old, rusty and leaking. I thought I could easily replace it but have encountered a couple of problems - the main one being that the turn handle is so close to the tank, it’s preventing me from unscrewing the whole fixture (handle and valve) from the pipe. I have some ideas of how I could remove it (ie using a grinder) but in terms of fitting a replacement, Im wondering could I install the new turn handle and valve separately as they seem to come as a single piece of kit? If I could separate the new valve and handle from one another then it would allow me to screw in the valve first and then I could just screw in the new turn handle into the valve?

Other (minor) problem is I don’t really know what size I need - I did buy a 15mm set earlier today but it looks to be way too small compared to the existing one? Any help/advice would be great! Photo attached:

Hot water system plumbing involves pressure, heat, and safety compliance requirements. Trying to remove or replace that tap, especially if it’s corroded, tight against the tank, or requires modifying fittings, can risk damage to the system or even injury.

Please note that plumbing work like this needs to be completed by a licensed professional for safety and compliance. You’ll need to contact a licensed plumber to source a suitably sized tap, replace the tap properly and ensure everything is sealed and up to code.
