What wall anchors for installing towel rail on fibro wall?

trying to install extra towel rail and hooks to bathroom wall. It’s not plasterboard - must be some type of fibro of blueboard do the regular wall mates won’t work. And the studs don’t align. Have tried the wall plugs it came with but these are not giving a secure fix.

What wall anchor should I use? There won’t be a lot of weight on the fixings but will need something slimline as 2 screws close together are required for the items.

If your home was built before 1995, there’s a chance the wall sheeting could contain asbestos. If it hasn’t been tested, it’s safest to assume it might be and avoid drilling, cutting, or disturbing it until you’re sure. Asbestos fibres are hazardous when airborne.

For fixing the towel rail and hooks:

• The best option is to get at least one side fixed into a timber stud. That gives you the most secure and reliable hold, even if the other side needs a different anchor.
• If studs don’t line up, toggle anchors are usually your strongest option for sheet walls like fibro or blueboard. Something like the Ramset 3/16 x 50mm Round Head Toggle Spring 4 Pack provides much better holding strength than standard wall plugs.

These spread the load behind the wall, making them far more secure for items like towel rails that get pulled on.

Just keep in mind, if there’s any chance of asbestos, don’t proceed with drilling until that’s confirmed safe.
