How to screw into weatherboard to mount house number?

Hey team,

I’ve just finished a reno and am keen to add the original house number to the outside of the home. I’ve got new weatherboard cladding that I’d like to screw into.

What are the best type of screws to use? I’ve tried timber screws in other areas, but they’ve ended up snapping off!

Talk to me like in 5 - assume no knowledge and I won’t get offended.

The key step is to pre-drill pilot holes using a 3mm drill bit before inserting any screws, which reduces resistance and helps prevent breakage.

. When installing, drive the screws in slowly and avoid overtightening, as excessive force can strip out the fibrecement.
