hi guys i would like to replace my Holman smart retic controller with Hunter. Do I need electrician or anyone can do it ?
Hi @coolJJ,
As per the User Guide for your https://www.bunnings.com.au/holman-wx8-wi-fi-irrigation-controller_p0182179 , it does not require an electrician for installation as it is not hardwired, meaning it has a 240V plug attached to it which can be plugged into a suitable outdoor plug. However, in your situation, as a GPO (powerpoint) was installed inside your switchboard, an electrician likely installed it originally.
As for the controller you are looking to replace it with, I can't say I am aware of their requirements, so you would have to check with the manufacturer, or within their installation guide. If it has a 240v plug, which can be disconnected from the controller so it can be fed through the conduit, then you may be able to, but if there is no way to disconnect the controller end of the plug, then it wouldn't be possible to feed the cable through the conduit, which would mean you need to contact an electrician for their assistance.
If you have any doubts or concern whatsoever, I'd suggest you contact an electrician for assistance as this is not a typical situation where you would just plug it into an outdoor plug.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
Jacob
Hi Jacob, thank you very much for your quick response. Hunter x core basic is just a plug in system but you were right about the power point inside switchboard. I would need electrician to do it. I have canceled the appointment with the lawn guy and now searching for electrician instead.
