Just to start with, can you confirm which specific Ryobi shredder model you have?

If it’s not resetting even after 30 minutes but the cutters can still be rotated by hand, it could be a couple of things. Most commonly it’s either the thermal overload protection still being triggered, a reset procedure not fully completed, or a safety switch not being properly engaged.

here are a few things worth checking:

* Make sure the unit is fully powered off and unplugged before attempting a reset
* Check that the collection box is correctly seated and the safety switch is engaged
* Try pressing and holding the reset button firmly 
* Inspect for any small debris that might still be causing resistance, even if the cutters move manually
* Ensure you are using the correct startup sequence as per the manual.

If none of that gets it going again, it may indicate a fault with the overload system or another internal component. In that case, I’d recommend taking it back to your local store with your receipt, for assessment under the terms of the warranty.
