I am planning to replace a few of kitchen cabinet doors. The colour is white. Can I use CUSTOMpine Carcass DS 16mm MR Particleboard White Matt to make doors. If not what is a better option.
Hi @Paarth,
Yes, you can absolutely use CUSTOMpine Carcass 16mm MR particleboard to make your replacement doors. It’s a standard melamine board and will perform just fine as a door as long as it’s cut and finished properly.
The key things to focus on are the cutting and finishing. When cutting the panels, use a circular saw with a fine-tooth blade (around 60 teeth is ideal). Apply masking tape along both sides of the cut line and cut through the tape to help prevent chipping of the melamine surface. Also, set your blade depth so it only extends a few millimetres below the board, as running it too deep can cause tear-out on the face.
Once cut, you’ll need to finish the exposed edges. An iron-on melamine edge strip is the usual solution. Apply it with an iron and trim it flush for a clean, factory-like finish.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
