Bunnings Workshop member Rachel Richmond says she get "a real sense of satisfaction doing work on my home".

Known in the community as @RenoRach1, Rachel has impressed the community with her ambitious renovation projects blending style and practicality. Her Queenslander laundry transformation is a standout example. Rachel and husband David turned an overlooked utility room into one of the most refined and hardworking spaces in their Brisbane Queenslander.
Like many older homes, the house had plenty of character but also its fair share of quirks. Rachel’s laundry was hampered by an awkward layout, ageing finishes and exposed pipework, so she set about rethinking the room from the ground up.
Drawing inspiration from other Workshop projects like the Farmhouse laundry reno by @housetohome and using the Kaboodle planner to test layouts, she refined her ideas before checking the design with the team at Bunnings Newstead.
A key feature of the makeover was raising the washer and dryer to a more comfortable height, with deep drawers underneath to help sort washing and make everyday use easier. Rachel completed much of the work herself, building cabinetry, painting doors, boxing in unsightly pipes and adapting the design to suit the challenges of a century-old Queenslander.
The finished room balances practicality with personality, combining blue-and-white cabinetry, brass accents, mosaic tiles and a Belfast sink for a polished Hamptons-inspired look.
It’s also a great example of what makes the Workshop community special: members sharing ideas, solving problems together and backing themselves to take on ambitious projects. Rachel also previously shared an apartment makeover, reflecting the same thoughtful, hands-on approach.
