Hi, what is the best type of Porta panelling to do the wainscotting squares (like the ones pictured). I already have the white Porta moulding around the wall of the room but am unsure of which one to pick for the squares. Thank you
Hi @DIYgirlie,
As far as I’m aware, Porta doesn’t do “panelling” for those square wainscoting designs as a single product. What you’re seeing in those styles is actually created by using individual mouldings to form the frames, rather than installing a panel piece itself.
For those square designs, the usual method is to cut Porta mouldings to size and fix them directly onto the wall to create the box shapes. They’re typically installed in a mitred frame (like a picture frame) which gives that classic wainscoting look.
Porta has quite a few different moulding profiles you can choose from, so it really comes down to the style you’re going for. If you want something more subtle and modern, go for a simple, flat or narrow profile. If you’re after a more traditional or decorative look, you can step up to something a bit more detailed or curved.
Since you already have the white Porta moulding around the room, the easiest option is to match or complement that profile so everything ties in nicely. Check out this wonderful project: Entry hallway wainscoting makeover by @SaadMalik.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
