Hi All

I mounted GARDENA 30m Roll Up Retractable Hose Reel and the hose that is supposed to be connected to the tap is short (1600mm)

Yes I know I can extend it bu using an external connector to attach another piece of hose ,,,,but I am thinking to replace the short with one piece longer to avoid leak through external connector ,,,,,,is that doable ?

Hi @zillah,

To swap that short inlet hose for a longer piece, you’d need to open up the reel housing, which will void the warranty, so I wouldn't recommend it.

There’s also no guarantee there’s a simple connection inside. On a lot of these reels, the hose runs straight through the internal mechanism rather than connecting to a standard fitting, so it may not be something you can easily replace.

In the end, it’s probably not worth the effort or risk. Using a good quality hose joiner such as this https://www.bunnings.com.au/holman-12mm-2-way-brass-coupling-hose-fitting-connector_p3110586 with a short length of hose is the simpler option, and if it’s fitted properly, it should seal just fine without leaking.
