If the leak is from outside, do you think the leak is due to shower cartridge?
Hi @AshaRose,
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is wonderful to have you with us.
Do you have a photo showing where the leak is coming from?
To answer your question, it can be, but not always.
If water is leaking from around the handle or face of the mixer, a worn or faulty cartridge is a common cause.
That said, leaks from the outside can also come from things like worn seals, loose fittings, or water tracking from inside the wall and showing up at the front. If the leak only happens when the tap is on, the cartridge is more likely. If it’s leaking even when off, it could point to something else behind the wall. Either way, the cartridge is usually the first thing to check or replace, as it’s a common wear item and relatively straightforward compared to chasing a leak in the wall.
Please note that plumbing work needs to be completed by a licensed professional for safety and compliance.
Let me know if you have any further questions.

It’s leaking only when tap is on. We have a plywood board and the leak is from one of those just outside and below the mixer tap. Thank you for your advice. I’ll change the cartridge tomorrow and see how that goes. What cartridge should I buy for this tap. Thank you!
The best thing you can do is remove the old one and take it in store to compare. I'm sure the team in the plumbing section at your local store would be happy to assist you with finding a replacement.
Just remember to turn off the water at the mains to isolate the supply prior to removing the cartridge.
Thank you Jacob!
