How to push back Ozito grass trimmer guard?

Question

I have been trying to figure out how to push back this metal edging guard on my Ozito grass trimmer. I have tried pushing it back but it’s just not budging.

Can it be pushed back in or is it something which is fixed at this length and cannot be adjusted?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is wonderful to have you with us.

As @Nailbag has mentioned, you can see how it is supposed to function in the video on the product page. If it is not functioning as intended, give it a good clean and a few taps with a mallet and it should release.

If you still have issues, I'd suggest you bring it back to the store of purchase and a team member should be able to assist with a simple repair to get it functional, or failing that, with a replacement.

It's designed to be a guide and it definitely should be able to be pushed back into various distances to suit the application.

It probably has a build up of fine debris and grime around the slide in area on each side of the rods. I would use a scouring pad to clean off the debris then apply a light amount of WD40 or similar and try again. It may need a few light taps with a rubber mallet to get you started. Once you can manage to get it in halfway in or so, pull it out and push it back in by hand several times to loosen it up until you get full depth movement.
