From cluttered entryways to underused backyard corners, Codey Anderson knows how to turn problem spaces into standout features of the home.
Codey's projects shared on Bunnings Workshop show how smart design and hands-on application can reshape both look and function of a home and garden.
An illustrator and Army veteran from Coffs Harbour, @Codey brings a visual, problem-solving mindset to his projects, often planning ideas in detail before picking up the tools. That blend of creativity and practicality is part of what makes his Workshop projects so inspiring, including a bedroom transformation, European laundry, Nintendo Switch entertainment unit, and barn door hallway cabinet.
Two of his standout creations are a Hamptons-inspired hallway storage unit and a resort-style backyard firepit area.
Inside the home, Codey transformed a cluttered entryway into a built-in mud room-style zone designed to make daily life run more smoothly.
Inspired by Hamptons interiors and the idea of creating a practical “drop zone”, he combined shaker-style detailing, overhead storage, baskets, hooks and a timber bench seat to create a space that feels tidy, polished and welcoming.
“Before, the entryway was just a bit of a dumping ground – now everything has a place and it’s made the whole area feel so much more organised and calm,” he says.
Codey’s top tip before tackling a any similar project is to “sketch it on paper and tape it out on the floor first – it helps you visualise how it’ll actually work in your space.”
Outside, he took on a very different challenge: turning a sloped, overgrown section of the backyard into an inviting firepit area with paving and a curved rendered seat.
Drawing inspiration from resort-style outdoor spaces and doing all the work himself, Codey created a backyard retreat designed for gathering with family and friends - proof that even difficult spaces can be completely reimagined with careful planning and a strong creative vision.
“I wanted to create a little escape in the backyard,” Codey explains. “A place to gather around the fire, with that kind of clean, timeless look that blends into the garden. It’s been great having a space that draws people together – that’s exactly what I hoped it would do.”
