Just had a new A/C installed and am wondering the best way to fill the holes left by the old unit. Spakfilla or a cement based render? The wall is an internal brick wall.
Hello @HReno
Thank you for sharing your question about filling the holes in your rendered brick wall. I propose using https://www.bunnings.com.au/earl-s-500g-concremate-expanding-cement_p1662127 in combination with a https://www.bunnings.com.au/craftright-150mm-pointing-trowel_p5960144 . The general steps are to clean the surface of the wall with https://www.bunnings.com.au/selleys-sugar-soap-wall-cleaning-wipes-25-pack_p1210330 and making sure there is no debris left inside the holes. Once the wall is clean mix the expanding cement to a thick mortar consistency so that it does not flow out of the holes. use the trowel to fill the holes and render them as flat as possible in level with the wall. Take your time with levelling so that it is nice and smooth.
Allow the cement to cure properly and wipe the surface once more with the sugar soap wipes. You can then begin to paint the wall with primer and allow it to cure before you paint it with your preferred topcoat.
