I need help with adding an additional shelf to hang a slide out rangehood. The current shelf height does not work with the new model. I need a shelf at the lower level. Can't find any screw to remove the existing one. Any help will be appreciated.
Hi @rkini,
The screws for your shelf are going to be going through the outside shell of the cabinet back into the shelf. They will be going through the back of the cabinet into the back of the shelf, and through the sides of the cabinet into the sides of the shelf.
So, to remove the shelf, you have two main options, take the cabinet off the wall so you can expose those screws and remove them, or cut along the perimeter of the shelf, through the screws, which will render the shelf unusable meaning you would have to cut a new shelf.
I think the better option is to explore removing the cabinet carcass from the wall temporarily to make the adjustments. There seem to be two screws at the back -
If you inspect the back of the cabinet, can you see any others?
If you can locate all of the mounting screws, you should be able to take the cabinet off the wall, remove the shelf, install an additional piece at the back of the cabinet for shelf mounting purposes, then move the shelf down and screw it in place through the left, right and back of the cabinet carcass before reattaching it to the wall.
Using this method, you would need to cut a piece of melamine for the back of the cabinet, and install some additional chipboard screws, but you would be able to reuse everything else that is there.
Let me know what you think and if you'd like further guidance, please let me know.
