How to replace vintage tap?

Hi all! Hopefully I can explain this properly..

Without replacing the whole fitting, I am trying to find a tap with its own valve to screw onto this old base.

I’ve been in store to have a look but it’s 25mm and there are very few options available at that size. My only thought was to get the kinetic ball valve below.

Seems excessive haha, but it really doesn’t need to be pretty, just have basic functionality and be a temporary hold. The whole setup is going to need replacing eventually 🤷‍♀️

Any thoughts please? Am I overlooking something?

It looks like you originally had a spout along the lines of this https://www.bunnings.com.au/shaw-mason-120mm-chrome-swivel-wall-spout-wels-3-star-9l-min_p0595168 , but the goose neck has been removed.

Assuming this is the case, then you should have tap handles on either side of this fitting. Is that correct?

I ask, because unfortunately, I am not aware of anything suitable that includes a valve and doubt you could use the thread on that fitting close to a valve because of the pressure buildup that would be caused by shutting water off at that point.

So, you would have to either replace the spout only and utilise the tap handles that should already be present, or replace the whole tap body, which would require a plumber for safety and compliance reasons.
