hi Team !
I noticed my drainage has cracked , how do I replace this ?
Hi @andiie21,
I'll just start by noting that any modification to a drainage system must be carried out by a licenced plumber for safety and compliance reasons. In your situation, as you would be replacing things like for like, it should be fine to do it yourself, but if you weren't confident, I would suggest contacting a plumber for assistance.
Essentially, you need to remove the existing adaptor and replace it with a new one. This https://www.bunnings.com.au/holman-100-x-50-x-90mm-pvc-stormwater-downpipe-adaptor_p4770382 is what you would replace it with.
So, start by removing the existing adaptor. The technique will all come down to whether it was glued in place to begin with. If there is no glue present, then you may be able to just pull the downpipe away from the wall slightly, then lift the adaptor off the circular pipe coming from the ground. If this is not possible and things are glued in place, an angle grinder with a cut off wheel will be the best way to remove the adaptor. You'll want to carefully make a relief cut through the bottom circular part of the adaptor, being careful not to cut through into the circular pipe beneath. When the relief cut is through the adaptor, take a flat tool like a chisel or screwdriver, stick it through the relief cut and use it to pry the adaptor away from the pipe. If you're having trouble, a heat gun can help but use it sparingly and be very careful as they can get surprisingly hot.
Once the adaptor is off, you would simply slip the rectangular side up on to the downpipe, then angle it outwards so you can slip the round side on. There is no real need to glue anything as long as things can fit comfortably without doing so. If it gets damaged again, then it would be easier to replace.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
