Hi there, the mixer tap now comes off completely and I’m not sure what to do. It will sit in the tap but comes off when you go to use it. Note it’s a 3 year old tap. Help please!
Hello @jacqmck
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your shower handle.
Please note that plumbing work needs to be completed by a licensed professional for safety and compliance.
Your shower handle is connected to the shower mixer by means of a grub screw. You'll notice that there is a chrome cover cap opposite the pin lever of the handle. You can use a sharp thin flat head screwdriver to lift the cover cap off on the handle. Once the cover cap is off, you'll find inside a grub screw inside that hole. I suggest using an https://www.bunnings.com.au/craftright-25-piece-hex-key-set_p0585873 to loosen the grub screw so that you can push the handle back onto the shower mixer post. Once it is pushed all the way in you can then re-tighten the grub screw and test the handle to make sure it does not come off. Put the cover cap back on and your handle should be firmly attached.
I've placed a sample image below to give you an idea of how the Allen key and grub screw interact.
