How to add security to front picket gate?

Question

We have a picket front fence and gate. We are looking to add some security to the gate to help deter unwanted visitors. The gate is a traditional Perry Bird Picket so looking for something not too obtrusive. Also easy DIY installation.

Just something to add a layer of security without too much cost

Any suggestions please?

Thanks for the reply Mitchell. It's  just a standard victorian style gate with latch. Not looking to change the gate at all just add a lock. Cameras are a good idea for security (we do already have them) but we are trying to stop people coming in at all. Thoughts on a simple more secure lock? With thanks

* Are you thinking about increasing the height of the gate or fence?
