How would I go about changing these doors to hinged doors instead? Would it be easier to replace the whole sliding door system?
HI @melrane,
To convert sliding wardrobe doors into hinged doors, you’ll need to remove the existing sliding track system completely first. Once that’s taken out, you’d then need to install a proper door jamb/frame so the new hinged doors have something solid to mount onto.
One thing to watch out for is the flooring underneath the current bottom track. There’s often a strip where the carpet or flooring hasn’t been laid. Once the track is removed, this area may be exposed or look unfinished. You’ll likely need to either patch in matching carpet, or alternatively, extend the bottom section of the new door frame/jamb to cover and hide that gap for a cleaner finish.
Here are some helpful guides: How to install a door jamb and How to hang a door.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
