How to replace magnetic flyscreen on windows?

Hi I'm replacing the old magnetic flyscreen on large upstairs windows as they were splitting and the magnets weren't holding the flyscreen during windy days so I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to get the magnets sticking better? The company that installed them has gone out of business so I can't ask them.

They need cleaning, any idea what I should use to clean it? Will this fix the sticking problem?

If the magnets are no longer holding well, it could be due to a mix of dirt build up and general wear over time. Giving everything a clean is a good first step, but it may not fully restore the strength if the magnets have weakened.

For cleaning, you can wipe both the magnetic strips and the contact surfaces with a soft cloth and some mild soapy water. Avoid anything too harsh, as strong chemicals can damage the material. Make sure everything is completely dry before putting it back together.

In terms of restoring the magnets themselves, there are tools like this https://www.bunnings.com.au/kincrome-torquemaster-magnetiser-de-magnetiser_p0351529 that can be used to apply light magnetisation to things such as screwdrivers and driver tips, but they are quite low strength. They are designed to give a temporary or light magnetism to tools, not to restore or create a strong permanent magnet, which typically requires the use of an extremely strong electromagnet. It's worth a try, but if the flyscreens magnets were particularly strong, I doubt you would be able to replicate their strength using one of these tools.

If they are still not sticking properly after cleaning, a couple of things you could try:
• Check that the magnetic strips are still aligned correctly and have not shifted
• Look for any warping or gaps in the frame that could be stopping full contact
